PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION
CLERICAL WORK RELATING TO THE OPERATION OF THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE. RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL CLERICAL FUNCTIONS AS WELL AS PROVIDING ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANCE TO THE ASSISTANT DISTRICT ATTORNEYS, INVESTIGATORS, COURTROOM ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANTS & VICTIM ADVOCATES.

Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Open DA case files as needed, obtain police reports and close case files upon final disposition including updating the case management system and attaching supporting documents.
Receptionist duties including, but not limited to, answering incoming calls and directing them to the appropriate person, answering basic questions for callers and speaking with people who come into the District Attorney’s Office.
Sort incoming papers to the appropriate employee’s office mailbox.
Enter subpoena service information in the case management system and forward the subpoena returns to the appropriate courtroom administrative assistant.
Prepare Grand Jury cases for presentment, including, but not limited to, scheduling officers and other witnesses, checking for bond papers, affidavit and warrants/indictment warrants.
Print accusations and update them in the case management system.
Prepare subpoenas for all requested witnesses and forward them to the appropriate person/agency for service.
Provide Temporary Protective Order applications, receive the completed application from the applicant and forward it to advocates at the Northwest Georgia Family Crisis Center.
Backup for Domestic Violence Unit receptionist.
Prepare dismissal letters as needed.
Disseminate case status to law enforcement and bondsmen as needed.
Maintain officer and attorney unavailability calendar.
Scan bond papers into the cases management system and file them in the case file.
Prepare Notice to Produce orders at request of law enforcement.
Other duties as directed by the District Attorney or designee.
Typical Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma, Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

ADA COMPLIANCE
Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
