Description
Do Great Things! Durham Technical Community College is hiring for an Adjunct Instructor, Public Safety Training (Continuing Education) teaching in 9-1-1, CPR, Emergency Management, or Fire services. The Adjunct Instructor is responsible for course preparation, delivery, grading, and attendance management. The Adjunct Instructor will work closely with the Public Safety Program Director ensuring all instructional and internal/external compliance records are maintained.
Examples of Duties
1. Teach all courses, as assigned, for the full duration of scheduled instruction.
2. Be fully prepared with an approved lesson plan for each class session.
3. Enforce academic policy and procedures at all times and comply with institutional/accrediting body rules and regulations.
4. Stay current with developments in the field of instruction and in compliance with certifying accreditation standards.
5. Assume responsibility for offsite/classroom preparation, including maintenance and cleanup, and recommend, as necessary practical supplies and equipment needed for instruction.
6. Maintain national, state, and college credentials supporting the role of the Adjunct Instructor, participating in required training by the accrediting body and/or the college. Ensure the college Human Resource Office receives official documentation of completion of training completion and credential renewals.
Minimum Qualifications
The applicant must hold a Instructor, or a Professional Lecture certification issued by a North Carolina or Federal Public Safety organization to teach certification courses. Applicants teaching in non-certification or specialized course work will be evaluated individually based on relevant training, education, and experience.

1.Demonstrated ability to use modern instructional technology (Microsoft Office, learning management systems, e-mail, Internet).
2.Competence in oral and written communication skills necessary for effective teaching
3.Ability to be organized, accurate, and punctual with paperwork and assigned tasks
4.Ability to make professional presentations to small or large audiences
5.Ability to establish and maintain effective, civil, and respectful communication and interpersonal relations throughout the college and the community
6.Personal integrity, honesty, and the ability to maintain confidentiality
7.Physical ability to take part in law enforcement practical exercises during training
