Position Description
Wake Technical Community College is seeking to expand our pool of part-time faculty to teach in various courses in the Allied Health Department. Specific course offerings will be in our programs relating to certified education relating to medical fields including: Certified Professional Coder, Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist, Certified Billing and Coding Specialist, Certified EKG Technician, Central Sterile Processing, Healthcare Clinical Research, Medical Terminology/Anatomy & Physiology, Surgical Technology, Medication Aide, and Mental Healthcare Technician. Openings in various areas may or may not be available at this time; however, after a review of qualifications, applicants may be contacted in the future. Adjunct faculty positions provide quality, effective instruction in assigned courses on a part-time, temporary basis.
Responsibilities and Duties (*Essential Functions)
- Prepares instruction that reflects appropriate learning objectives
- Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course
- Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
- Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
Uses formative and simulative assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching
Designs a schedule of instruction
Maintains communication with course committee instructors and participates in instructional discussions
Remains up-to-date on technology and methods of teaching with technology
Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance
Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment
Grades and returns student work in a timely manner
Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course
Supports the Department, Division, and College goals, providing requesting data in a timely manner
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with and maintain positive working relationships with students, peers, supervisors and staff
Working knowledge of MS Office products
Experience with online learning platforms such as Moodle and Blackboard
Requirements:
Education and experience requirements/preferences for teaching positions vary based on subject area and/or discipline.
