SalaryHeartShare is looking for an After School Activity Specialist
The Activity Specialist will have specialized skills and interests in one or more disciplines or content areas to lead and implement an activity such as arts, dance, STEM, literacy, nutrition, or organized sports. Regardless of discipline, activities are to be sequenced, skill-building activities.
* AFTERSCHOOL ACTIVITY SPECIALISTS must be available to work in the range of Monday - Friday from 3 pm to 9 pm and/ or Saturdays from 10 am to 5 pm, when scheduled. *
AFTERSCHOOL ACTIVITY SPECIALIST
DUTIES:
- Assist in the development of age-appropriate activities in one or more discipline or content areas.
- Provide direct supervision of youth activities.
- Assist in maintaining daily attendance records for program participants.
- Assist in the provision of basic counseling services as needed (peer-mediation, self-control, decision making)
- Accompany youth on cultural and recreational field trips.
- Assist in ensuring a safe environment for program participants.
- Actively participate in all professional development sessions, supervision and team meetings
- Adhere to agency policies, and procedures.
- Assume other duties as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma OR two years of experience working with youth, activity recreation, or a related field.
- Must be able to work in Dyker Heights/ Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.*
