Position Summary:
Responsible for the overall direction of the care community's activity program.
Essential Functions:

- Must be in good physical condition as the position requires the ability to stand on one's feet throughout the day, as well as, push, pull, move and or lift a minimum of 10 pounds up to greater than 50 pounds
- Must be able to complete performance requirements independently while using good judgment as well as have the ability to harmoniously work with others
- Must be able to read, write and understand the English language
Position Responsibilities:
- Must follow HCF Policies and Procedures
- Must meet job related competencies as outlined in the Skills Competency Manual
- Develops, coordinates and evaluates the activity programming within the care community
- Completes sections of the MDS and develops care plans that are specific to each resident
- Interviews new residents and their families to determine interests and abilities, family history and background
- Responsible for the development and on-going success of the Volunteer program
- Responsible for maintaining adequate supplies to carry out activities
- Participates in the QAPI process
- Assumes responsibility for maintaining his/her own professional competence
- Schedules and evaluates staff to ensure adequate program coverage, including weekend, evenings and holidays
- Responsible for creation and management of activity calendar

Knowledge, Skills and abilities:
Must have high school diploma or equivalent. College and/or clerical schooling preferred. Successful completion of Activity Director Course or 2 years of experience in a social or recreational program.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Reporting to this position is the Activity Assistant.
