Accounting Support Specialist

GENERAL SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for assisting in the smooth operation of the accounting department with a primary focus on:  Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R), Company-wide Procurement, Branch Balancing and Ad-hoc department support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Responsible for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable for the entire organization, including employee expense reimbursements.
  • Process procurement order requests.
  • Support Branch processes directly related to balancing and Accounting.
  • Complete the recordkeeping of the Bank’s fixed assets, prepaids, and accrual accounts.
  • Scrutinize and provide primary approval for employee corporate credit card transactions.
  • Assist in the disposition of daily unposted transactions, balancing and troubleshooting accounting offages related to branch operations.
  • Assist in the daily review and processing of paper returns and duplicates.
  • Daily client notice mailings. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associates of Arts Degree and 2 years of accounting experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the essential functions of the position.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to organize projects, prioritize, and manage time.
  • Ability to pay critical level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products.

Physical:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to: sit; use hands in repetitive motions to finger, grasp, handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to: stand; walk; and lift or reach with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include:  Good visual acuity to read print and computer screens.
