The Accounting Specialist will ensure complete and systematic accounting records of receipts and disbursements in the organization by performing clerical and bookkeeping tasks and applying accepted procedures in preparing and maintaining accounting records.
Responsibilities
Process bills, checks, receipts and other documents
Ensure all documents are properly signed and distributed
Verify financial and other data
Monitor financial transactions
Enter data and maintain updated records
Assist with account reconciliations
Communicate with vendors, customers and colleagues
Report the status of accounts and discrepancies
Respond to ad hoc requests for reporting and financial information
Assist in training colleagues as is appropriate
Participate in special projects as needed
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High School Graduate plus 2 years of relevant experience or 2 year degree in Business
Knowledge of basic bookkeeping and financial transactions
Familiarity with financial regulations, i.e. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Familiarity with Great Plains, iMIS, and report writing tools preferred
Knowledge of MS Office and databases
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while multitasking and maintaining accuracy
Attention to detail and organizational abilities
Demonstrated problem solving skills
Proven performance in a team environment
Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors and coworkers
Reliability and strong work ethic
Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform tasks
Works under general supervision
Certain degree of creativity and latitude is required
