JOB SUMMARY:
Fulfill accounting duties within Accounts Payable and Cost Accounting and provide information for selected state and county reporting requirements. This position also supports the manufacturing and inventory control functions, as needed. This is a non-supervisory position. Duties include performing a variety of complex accounting tasks, applying accepted procedures to the preparation and maintenance of accounting and other records, and preparing financial, statistical, and/or technical reports.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Accounts Payable
1. Receives and processes all invoices, ensuring appropriate approvals are made prior to entry into the accounts payable system.
2. Monitors accounts payable data, answers vendor inquiries, and reports accounts payable aging, to include monitoring uninvoiced receipts reporting.
3. Assist the plant controller in the calculation and journal entry of period month end general ledger accruals.
Cost Accounting
1. Performs daily manufacturing production activity entry, to include finished goods produced and work in process batching.
2. Daily entry and reporting of production efficiency and downtime data and statistics.
3. Assist in the performance of inventory cycle counts and physical inventories.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Monitor finished goods inventory, tracking sales and inventory levels of selected inventory items and ordering resupply of these items as needed from outside sources.
2. Collect and report environmental and air quality data to state and county government entities.
3. In the absence of the plant controller, provide weekly reporting for manufacturing labor, inventories, and weekly status reports.
4. Assist the plant controller in the monthly close process, to include journal entry and account analysis.
5. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications1. Working knowledge of bookkeeping theories and practices.
2. Ability to perform numerical detail work with speed and accuracy, to make difficult mathematical computations, and operate a calculator by touch.
3. Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions and technical terminology.
4. A working knowledge of Microsoft excel and word. Knowledge of AS400 based software and of Oracle is a plus.
5. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, a variety of governmental employees and officials, and the general public.
6. May require the ability to type at a speed of at least 40 words per minute with a high degree of accuracy.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
1. High school graduation or its equivalent, including courses in bookkeeping.
2. 1 to 5 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting assignments involving advanced recordkeeping (directly related business school or college courses may be substituted equally for up to one year’s experience); or
3. Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
