Job Description
Overview:
Perform routine accounting work in the accounts payable function.
Responsibilities:
- Perform all aspects of the accounts payable function by entering invoices into the software within 24 hours of receiving a request for payment, adhering with departments policies and deadlines. Identify errors or discrepancies before processing.
- Prepare manual checks, including entries to reflect ACH transactions pay by phone and any web payments, to include all backup documentation. Reconcile accounts payable related accounts; and process any journal entry requests and AP reclassing as requested by management and or any adjustments to the general ledger.
- Act as primary contact within the company/vendors regarding anything related to accounts payable/receivables, including reviewing requests and preparing and routing for approval. Follow up with approvals if necessary.
- Research and resolve any outstanding balances and accounts, including telephone, mail, or email communications with vendors.
- Provide accurate and effective document preparation and records management relative to the accounts payable function.
- Assist in annual audit by preparing assigned reports or providing documentation as directed by the controller.
- Request W9 information from vendors and ensure vendor names and data is updated correctly into Yardi system.
- Cross train with development accountant to help in A/P functions as needed (i.e., cutting and distributing checks for signature, mailing checks, filing, etc.)
- Prepare wire transfer requests and circulate for approval, coordinate the wire release with WNC accounting department.
- Organize, and assist in the preparation of loan draw packages as needed.
- Maintain CPP Accounting inbox daily.
- Special projects as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge, and Education:
- Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years prior experience in A/P, Yardi experience a plus
- Thrives working in a fast-paced environment to help get projects across the finish line.
- Strong and dedicated work ethic and organizational skills.
- Possess the ability to prioritize and manage time well under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Maintain effective and productive working relationships with internal and external parties.
