RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Accounting Clerk will oversee the Personal Needs Accounts to ensure accurate record keeping and be in compliance with government regulations. They will maintain the accuracy and data integrity of the RFMS system; daily update of cash withdrawals, beauty salon, Medigap and Med D premium, monthly allowance for Medicaid residents; deposit for social security and pensions; replenish petty cash accounts; banking hours; notify state of NJ on death of Medicaid recipients and resolve the disposition of the remaining PNA balance in a timely fashion. They will monitor balances to ensure Medicaid residents do not exceed asset limit set forth by Medicaid. The staff accountant will interact with residents and address their financial concerns.
Some additional responsibilities will be:
- Review financial documents on prospective residents
- Perform monthly billing and follow up collection of Accounts Receivable including but not limited to co-insurance claims, long term care policy, & hospice
- Bill Medicaid for Med A co-insurance
- Complete annual Medicaid Redetermination requests for Medicaid residents
- Review Statement of Available Income for Medicaid Payments for accuracy and request corrections from BCBSS
- Gather financial data and complete annual or semiannual renewal of Medicaid Redetermination
- Submit annual renewal of Social Security Rep Payee applications
- Work with Medicare Account Specialist to coordinate insurance eligibility check before admission
- Prepare deposits and post cash receipts to AR system
- Preparation of government compliance report such as Medicare Part A bad debt reimbursement listing
- Assist in special accounting projects and analysis. Provide other duties as assigned by Controller
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA/BS degree required; healthcare experience preferred
- Knowledge of Medicaid and Medicare regulations, policies and procedures preferred
- Ability to set priorities and to meet deadlines
- Self-starter, good communication and interpersonal skills
- Good computer skills and knowledge is required
