Description: Barnard Griffin is seeking an Accounting Assistant to join our team in Richland, Washington. We have a close-knit administration team at our main winery campus and are adding this position to further the success of our ever-growing business. The Accounting Assistant will report directly to the Financial Controller and will support them by managing the posting and reconciliation of various types of expenses and revenues. They will also be expected to file several different types of tax reports, including sales tax, excise tax and alcoholic beverage taxes. We expect this position to be part-time and estimate the hours between 15 – 25 per week. The ideal candidate will have high attention to detail, be reliable and able to work independently. They will also be expected to have excellent skills with the entire Microsoft suite, most importantly Excel.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree or higher
- 2+ years of experience in the accounting field
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Advanced computer skills, proficiency with Excel and Microsoft suite
- Thorough understanding of accounting principles, A/R and A/P, income statement and balance sheet
- Basic understanding of sales and excise tax laws
- Excellent communication skills and reliability
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for daily retail invoicing posting
- Credit card expense entries and reconciliations
- Cash sales posting and reconciliations
- Monthly reporting for direct-to-consumer wine sales
- Monthly reporting for sales tax collected
- Assist with wine inventory reconciliations on a monthly basis
- Record daily bank account entries
- Receive vendor payments
- Process Accounts Payable as needed
Compensation and Benefits: This position will be part-time; estimated between 15 – 25 hours per week. Compensation will depend upon experience and ranges between $20 – 28 per hour. This position will earn paid sick leave and receive employee discounts.
