The Accounting Analyst shares responsibility for analyzing and compiling financial data, preparing various internal and external regulatory reports and ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and generally accepted accounting principles. The Analyst works within a collaborative environment with opportunities to gather experience through a variety of accounting and tax-related assignments that support the development of personal strengths and career growth. Communication and collaboration with other departments and external vendors is required.
Duties and Responsibilities may include:
- Prepare financial statement disclosures, XBRL tagging, regulatory reports and other financial reports
- Research, assess and document compliance with new and existing U.S. GAAP and other regulatory guidance
- Facilitate implementation of new or revised accounting principles
- Prepare federal and state tax work papers and filings
- Record general ledger activity and reconcile accounts
- Analyze financial data and document conclusions
- Document compliance with vendor guidelines on certain third party relationships
- Gather and provide appropriate support for audit inquiries
- Perform other duties as required to accomplish the objectives of the position, including special projects and participation on cross-functional teams and committees
- Cross-train on a variety of departmental tasks
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in Accounting preferred, plus 3 - 5 years relevant work experience or equivalent combined education and experience. Financial Institution experience a plus.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel including the ability to perform basic functions, write formulas, and design and maintain complex spreadsheets
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage priorities and adapt to changing needs of the business
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work independently and in a group environment
- Attention to accuracy and detail
- A positive, pro-active attitude and desire to cross-train
- Familiarity with federal banking regulations, FFIEC reporting, corporate and state tax code, U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting and Wdesk platform a plus
