JOB FUNCTION/ PURPOSE
The Accountant II is responsible for applying the principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform some or all various accounting functions from the list below:
- Manage Letters of Credit and Bonds ensuring timely collection and processing in accordance with contractual terms of the transaction
- Prepare journal entries and coordinate the monthly close process
- Review and monitor accruals and journal entries
- Assist in collection of Accounts Receivable and prepare account reconciliations for certain accounts
- Participate in internal and external audits
- Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
- Review general ledger monthly and adjust as required
- Maintains fixed asset account. Tracking fixed assets to completion and closing project when completed
- Prepares monthly bank reconciliations
- Coordinates monthly close process
- Will be integral in the preparation of monthly financial statements and management reports
- Understands and adheres to all company health and safety procedures as they relate to essential job functions
QUALIFICATIONS
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Accurate and attentive to detail
- Excellent understanding of accounting principles
- Proficient computer (Excel and Word)/ten key skills
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
BS degree in accounting with 2-5 years prior experience in accounting or general business or an equivalent combination of education and experience. GASB experience is required.
