SMG is seeking an Account Billing Specialist in the Indianapolis, Indiana, area. This is a Hybrid position, with three days in the office and two days working from home.
The Account Billing Specialist performs a variety of accounting and clerical duties as specified by established procedures. This role will review, prepare, and process billing documents, check internal records, reconcile accounts, and prepare reports for management as required.
Overview of Job Responsibilities:
- Preparation of weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly proforma invoices and supporting attachments, the client-required forms, and assist with a submission into the client's payment system by the last day of each month for the preceding month
- Set up and periodic review of project work orders in the Project module
- Reconcile remittance details from client payment system to Acumatica invoices; follow up on past due invoices as requested by supervisor
- Participate in bi-weekly accounting team meetings and monthly account team meetings, plus other meetings, as necessary
- Process special billing requests (ex, waiver of lien forms, W9 requests, billing histories, etc.)
- Review timesheets and expense reports, proposals, and contracts and accurately confirm relevant data to the billing system
- Contact clients regarding payment of outstanding invoices
- Review and research invoice and account discrepancies for clients (issue credits when applicable)
- Work to support team Advisors on weekly time and expense submissions
- Detailed review for accuracy, including compliance with job aids for correct input as well as details required by the client
- Approve time and expense weekly in coordination with accounting team deadlines
Requirements
- Associate degree in accounting preferred
- 1+ years of related experience
- Experience working in multiple systems at the same time; exposure to a cloud-based, paperless environment is preferred
- Maintain the company's professional reputation

Physical Demands of the job may include:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Manual dexterity is needed for typing and other repetitive tasks
- Must be able to speak in an accurate and detailed manner on the phone or in person
- Wearing personal protective gear correctly when required
