The Academic Coordinator located in Albany utilizes collaboration and project management skills to assist with assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of department activities contributing to the success of the department and promoting the department’s brand.
Job Description
Serves as a technology resource for the department’s technology systems
Functions as a Business Analyst and provides advanced and confidential administrative support, project management and financial analytics requiring broad experience, skill, and knowledge of Albany Medical Center
Collaborates with multiple departments and provides high-level project support and analytical services
Provides project management, implementation and research/data analytic services; communication; financial reporting and analysis; vendor evaluation; information systems as it relates to the successful implementation of strategic goals and objectives of the department and the organization.
Requires strong multi-tasking capabilities
Requires adherence to strict confidentiality guidelines
Support the DOS chair academic activities 10%
Manages projects efficiently providing continuous checkpoints and documentation of progress to all stakeholders throughout the project life cycle
Support the Vice Chair of Quality with data management and quality initiatives. Administrate the Perioperative Quality Committee and the DOS Peer Review and Quality Committee 60%
Support the Surgical research committee by preparing for monthly meetings, submission of protocols to the IRB and maintaining a database of all research protocols in the DOS. 30%
Provide administrative support of the DOS’s summer research program for Albany High School Students.
Able to demonstrate proficiency with a variety of software packages including word processing and spreadsheet applications, graphics and other specialized applications, establish, maintain and revise systems to ensure the organization and availability of all materials for optimal and continuous work flow.
Able to communicate effectively on a wide range of issues with internal and/or external customers, and initiate follow up on actions, knowledge and use of proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling, edit and proof-read correspondence, plan and/or guide the interaction of others with internal or external contacts.
Minimum Qualifications
Associates Degree and 2 years in a healthcare environment including collecting or reporting healthcare information and/or use of an EMR*
Working knowledge of computer-based applications and strong PC/ keyboard skills.
Preferred Abilities, Knowledge, and Skills
Prior experience in customer service
Able to manipulate data in databases including but not limited to Excel.
Able to interface collaboratively with multiple groups.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to use sound judgment in decision making.
Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated time management skills.
Ability to handle high workload volume with many variables, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
Excellent customer service skills (written and verbal), demonstrating the ability to work effectively and efficiently with a diverse population.
Ability to work well independently as well as within a team unit.
Preferr
Medical record review / completion and /or electronic medical record experience
Abstraction / management experience in any clinical registry, including following a prescribed data dictionary, data entry and reporting
Ability to build relationships and gain alignment for clinical documentation support
Computer and internet (web browser) experience; familiarity and comfort writing summaries in MS Word and providing simple analysis in MS Excel
Basic statistical knowledge and analysis
Experience working directly on improvement projects/teams for quality improvement or patient safety
Salary Range: $21.78/hr - $34.85/hr
