Scope of Role
The Academic Coach is responsible for providing direct supervision, providing academic and enrichment activities, and monitoring the progress of youth participating in an after-school education program.
- THIS POSITION IS GRANT FUNDED AND WILL END IN EARLY JUNE
Essential Duties
- Provide direct supervision of the participants in the program.
- Develop and support formal and informal academic activities.
- Support accurate homework completion.
- Facilitate behavior management skills.
- Collaborate to develop and implement social emotional learning activities.
- Engage with school personnel to monitor and support the academic performance of the participants.
- Understand and follow the Program's processes and procedures.
- Maintain documentation as required.
- Engage in contact with families.
- Engage with school personnel to monitor and support the academic performance of the participants.
- Transport participants.
- Provide academic instruction and tutoring.
- Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications
Required
- Associates degree in a human service-related field or a highschool diploma and at least one year of significant experience
- with the target population (young teens) or in a human services field.
- Possession of a current and valid North Carolina Driver's License.
- CPR/First Aid Certification within timeframe determined by supervisor.
Recommended
- Certified Parks and Recreational Professional.
- Certified teacher or bachelor's degree with at least three years of experience providing academic instruction.
