Position Overview
Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of this position is to identify and recruit participants for the Talent Search (TS) Program (A Federal TRIO Program – U.S. Department of Education) and to perform Academic Coaching and advising for TRIO Talent Search participants at designated schools in the surrounding area of Guilford County School System and for those who have dropped out of high school or post secondary institutions desiring entry or re-entry into post-secondary education. Provide admissions and financial aid assistance to participants. Plan and conduct workshops/seminars, cultural activities, and college tours.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The main purpose of the TRIO Programs will be to provide our Low Income, First Generation Students with unlimited opportunities on their journey regarding their academic, personal, economical and social goals. Our Upward Bound Program provides pre-college services to 128 middle and high school students. Our Student Support Services Program provides academic support and services for 206 college students. The Educational Talent Search Program provides service to 500 individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the potential to succeed in higher education. The program provides academic, career, and financial counseling to its participants and encourages them to graduate from high school and continue on to and complete their post-secondary education.
Work Hours
8:00AM - 5:00PM; Monday - Friday; some overtime may be required
