Essential Job Functions - The "A" Operator is responsible for hour-by-hour operation of the Plant equipment to ensure a safe and efficient operation.
Monitors equipment from the Central Control Room for proper performance by monitoring and operating DCS computer monitors. Shut down and start up of equipment in a safe and proper order.
Maintains current, detailed knowledge and understanding of process unit equipment, unit operations and operating methods.
Communicates with field operators to ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment.
Interprets process sample analysis and process data, and makes adjustments to process and production rates as necessary.
Directs the work for outside operators, and train others assigned to the job and cooperates and assists others in the performance of duties assigned.
Troubleshoots to identify problem areas with the unit and communicates suggestions to unit supervision, engineering, or other appropriate associates.
Interprets process sample analysis and process data and makes adjustments to process and production rates as necessary.
Alerts outside operators via radio of plant upsets and changes to be made.
Performs Lead Operator duties during vacations and absences.
Assists Lead Operator issuing codes for gas releases and notifies Waste Treatment of any excursions.
o Directs outside operators during emergency shutdowns.
Maintains housekeeping in control room and conducts safety equipment inspections in control building.
Read log book, compiles log book information regarding shift issue, and email daily reports.
Enter and document Notifications generated during shift.
Issues safe work permits and generates work orders for emergency work
Participates / communicates shift handover and other key operator communications meetings.
Records accurate daily production report to include; accurate information in log book, record -out reading sheets, complete daily production reports, produces raw material usage reports,
Completes safe work order permits for the unit, and assist with preparing equipment for maintenance, deconning and deenergizing.
Maintains good housekeeping habits to ensure the cleanliness, neatness, and order of work area and equipment.
Participate in all aspects of the safety program including safety meeting attendance and participation.
Conducts call-outs - to include filling vacancies on shift as necessary and maintenance craftsmen as needed for repairs.
Performs other duties and assignments as directed by supervisor.
Assist other operators or co-workers as needed.

Qualifications
High School Degree or GED Equivalent.
Must have effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and always changing environment.
Critical Thinking- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
Complex Problem Solving- Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
Demonstrate knowledge of potential failure modes for process related equipment and recommend remedial actions.
