The primaryrole of the Process Operator is to ensure all Vidalia Anode Material plant operating activities are undertaken in a safe and efficient manner in line with the approved schedule / strategy and to ensure all issues, hazards and incidents are reported to supervision in a timely manner. The Process Operator is responsible to operate according to daily/weekly production instructions/plans, ensure quality products are produced, waste is minimalized and that customer expectations are met at all times.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following responsibilities do not represent the entire list and additional tasks will also be required:
- Always comply with the Company’s Environmental & Social Monitoring Program and Health & Safety Management Plan requirements.
- Report all hazards, incidents and near misses in line with Company policies and procedures.
- Continually monitor the plant environment to ensure the safety of yourself and other workers.
- Any other duties as reasonably directed by the Supervisor.
- Contribute to pre-start and toolbox sessions as required.
- Contribute to the development of Safe Work Instructions (SWI) as required.
- Review SWI’s daily prior to undertaking a task and follow accordingly.
- Work with forklifts and similar equipment as required.
- Enter and work within confined spaces and work safely at heights as required.
- Report all issues to Shift Supervisor as soon as practicable to rectify in a timely manner.
- Create and maintain a high standard of plant, workshop and site housekeeping.
- Read and understand an OEM manual and SDS’s.
- Read P&ID’s, loop diagrams, instrumentation systems, etc.
- Develop and implement systems that will improve reliability of the equipment and the facility.
- Assist in managing the safety & environmental training of the processing team to ensure 100% compliance at all times.
- Conduct risk assessments and job hazard analysis assessments on work activities as required.

- Undertake daily work area inspections and report / rectify faults or issues to management immediately.
- Assist in the training and skills acquisition of your peer team members to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
- Coach and mentor, your peer team members to build capability across our Vidalia workforce, including the development of graphite-specific processing skills.
- Coach and mentor, your peer team members to assist with metallurgical surveys and test-work, identify process bottlenecks and inefficiencies, and contribute to optimization projects throughout the processing plant.
- Support the implementation of QA/QC standards, policies and procedures.
- Share operational advice and support to your peer team members, including addressing any deficiencies in processing knowledge.
- Make informed decisions on processing plant parameters based on the relevant data and information.
- Provide processing-specific advice on technical areas and support the shift personnel and management team.
- Support the management aims and directions and share information openly.
- Make improvement recommendations to the management team & continually increase the level of safety in the plant and other associated facilities.
- Demonstrate effective communication, planning and organization skills in managing others as well as influencing and building relationships.
- Any other duties as reasonably directed by the Operations Superintendent and or Operations Team Leaders.
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma and or GED equivalent.
- 5+ years’ experience in the process operations, preferably in process plant or similar environments.
- Certifications from trade schools and/or professional organizations are preferred.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical assessment.
- Must have positive "can-do" attitude.
- Able to read, interpret and effectively use drawings and documentation related to electrical and process controls including electrical one-line diagrams, elementary diagrams, wiring schematics, control schematics, P&ID’s, cause and effect diagrams, instrument loop diagrams, and interconnect diagrams.
- Strong troubleshooting capabilities and problem-solving skills.
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency.
- Experience working with OSHA Regulations.
- Proactiveness and proven capacity to think conceptually and make assertive decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely and follow safety procedures and regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to act in a self-directed manner with no immediate supervision.
- Ability to work in a team environment and share information as required.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. multiple times daily unassisted, 75 lbs assisted, and push or pull 100 lbs. assisted; must be able to stand/walk for extended periods.
- Must be willing to work inside and outside in all-weather element as required.
