Job Summary and Scope
This position is responsible for receiving, evaluating, and disseminating emergency and non-emergency calls for police, fire and emergency medical service in a Joint Communications setting. Employees will utilize radio and other telecommunication equipment to dispatch responders and to coordinate their activities. Successful performance helps ensure efficient communication of information to emergency responders, and public safety for the community at large. The ideal candidate must be an excellent communicator in oral and written techniques while able to remain calm and composed.
Job Duties
- Answer the phone.
- Obtain required information from the public.
- Provide scripted pre-arrival instructions to callers and coordinate responders.
- Maintain officer and public safety at all times.
- Provide support and assistance to all emergency personnel.
- Maintain records of all activities.
- Use your employer provided training to SAVE LIVES.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- 18 Years of Age
- Missouri driver’s license
- Proficient in English
- Ability to type minimum 35 WPM
- Availability to work any shift (days or overnights) and holidays
Employee must also:
- Obtain and maintain MULES/NCIC certification within 6 months of hire.
- Obtain and maintain IAED certifications in EMD, EFD, and EPD within 6 months of hire.
- Meet and maintain state required certifications within 1 year of employment.
Special Requirements:
- A written, practical and oral examination may be required.
- Subject to background investigation.
- Subject to random drug screening throughout employment.
- As a critical and essential role within public safety, this position is staffed 24 hours per day including weekends and holidays; this position is subject to call in during incidents of natural or man-made emergencies in addition to regular duty or scheduling needs.
