Duties and Responsibilities
An emergency 911 Dispatcher has primary responsbility for the initial deployment of personnel and equipment.
- Follow established procedures, employ common sense, and maintain a calm demeanor to provide aid and support to emergency personnel and ensure that messages are clear, concise, and delivered in a timely manner.
- Utilize the Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system for all dispatched activity.
- Maintain and retrieve records, files, and infomation for prompt communication to field units and department personnel.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and computer skills.
- Maintain situational awareness of local, regional, state, and national emergencies and events.
Additional Information
- Experience in 911 EMD, Police, and Fire is required.
- Highschool diploma or equivalent required.
- Candidates preferred with the following certifications:
• NG911 Equipment certification
• APCO public safety telecommunications
Certifications can be earned through PCSD training - Speak with ADS DeFrancesco.
- Candidates must successfully complete a background investigation.
- Candidates must have excellent communication and computer skills.
- 911 Dispatcher is a full time position.
