Role Name : Network Engineer
Location : Tuscaloosa, Alabama (Onsite)
Type : Contract
Network Engineer, needs knowledge of data centres, switches, WLAN and LAN, IDF cabinets. Track and tracing of cables and terminations. There is a lot of this position that can be done at a desk but this can also be physical we need to fix cable terminations or run new data lines.
2. Special requirements / qualification profile
a) Education & Experiences Requirements:
o Bachelor's degree in IT, or related field of study
o 3-5 years network experience
o CCNA, or CCNP Certification is desired
o Experience with LAN/WAN networking/distributed computing environment
o Working knowledge of technologies such as MPLS, TCP/IP, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, RIP, QoS, IPsec, DMVPN, Wireless.
o Working experience of Wireless LAN controller, Core switches or IDF switches, Firewall management, VPN, MFA.
o Experience with network troubleshooting tools
o Firewall configuration and management
o Good oral and written communication skills and ability to address conflict with others constructively
o Strong ability to diagnose alerts, events, or issues
o Understanding of common information architecture frameworks
b) Working relationships
o Must effectively and efficiently communicate with other members of the IT Department and other business units at all levels of the Organizational Chart to provide support; interact with the user community in a professional, courteous, and helpful manner; and interact with outside technology hardware and support vendors.

4. Objective of the position
To provide network and internet support for 3 plants in Alabama, and ensure continuity of network services for 24*7, time sensitive supply to the customer.
Support network service for internal applications, hosted in different Geographies, communication between all 3 SMP US plants and maintain security of the network
5. Main duties
Troubleshoots and resolves Cisco system/network service failures by identifying and analyzing the situation and provides corrective actions.
Completes project tasks and assignments to meet project deadlines.
Present strong interpersonal and communication skills; customer facing, vendor liaison, able to work closely with a team.
Ensure the stable operation and efficient performance of company and customers' networks.
Identify and remedy network performance bottlenecks.
Receive and respond to incoming calls, trouble tickets, and/or e-mails regarding network connectivity problems.
Prepare, maintain, and adhere to procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring network data.
Configuring, testing, and troubleshooting of network equipment such as Cisco routers/switches, IP phones, and wireless LAN equipment in coordination with Project, Servicing, and Customer teams.
Document all network designs, configurations, and network change requests to maintain real-time accountability network architecture.
Flexible schedule and sense of urgency to support escalations that affect business operations and client services.
Available after hours and weekends as needed and willing to work on-call rotation
Maintains standard network designs for each SLA classification.
Maintains Standard Router configuration.
