QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in data analytics, statistics, computer science, or other related field
Two or more years of proven experience assuring data integrity, including data extraction, cleaning, storage, manipulation, and analysis
Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g. MS Excel, MS Access, SQL, Power Bl, Tableau)
An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved may be considered.
Preferred:
Experience working in institutional research
Knowledge and/or experience working in a community college or higher education setting
Experience with Higher Education information systems and/or reporting systems, such as Colleague
Experience with survey software (Qualtrics)
Skilled in using SAP BusinessObjects, IBM SPSS, and/or Chmura JobsEQ

Monday-Thursday, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm

Hybrid: remote and on-campus in Yuma
On-campus: indoor office environment, normal noise levels, good lighting

Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment with staff contact and frequent interruptions
Prolonged periods of sitting, working on a computer, and viewing a monitor
Travel:

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:
Supports college-wide, data-driven, decision-making processes to serve students best. Collaborates with various departments college-wide to understand data and analysis needs, generate reports to provide insights, and contribute to the continuous improvement efforts of the College. Maintains Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Research (OIER) databases and data sources, ensuring data integrity and data quality for reporting. Develops dashboards and other interactive data visualization tools to facilitate data-informed decisions and information sharing. Prepares and provides official statistics for College leadership, academic support units, grant programs, state and federal agencies, and other stakeholders. Serves as a mentor for department staff, supporting skill development and acquisition.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
Serves Students. Develop, maintain, and update reports independently and collaboratively with other OIER team members to fulfill internal and external recurring reporting requirements, often involving complex, longitudinal data analyses. Develop and execute local, accrediting, state, and federal reports for compliance with funding and other statutory or regulatory obligations (e.g., IPEDS, Higher Learning Commission, Arizona Community College Coordinating Council, Student Right-to-Know disclosures, etc.). Prepare data and conduct analyses for benchmarking studies (e.g., National Community College Benchmarking Project, AZ Community College Long-term Strategic Vision, etc.). Produce, organize, and present tables, graphs, dashboards, and narrative data analyses to display and summarize Key Performance Indicators and other institutional performance outcomes (e.g., enrollment, full-time student equivalency (FTSE), course and student performance, retention and graduation rates, etc.).
Query and extract data from the Colleges' Student Information System (Colleague), OIER databases, and external data sources using Access, Excel, SAP Business Objects, SQL, and other related tools. Maintain queries for internal and external data and reporting needs. Develop and perform periodic reviews of OIER written procedures to maintain a current and complete OIER reporting reference manual.
Create, manage, and maintain OIER data and databases, including Official census day data. Ensure data integrity and quality. Identify and correct technical concerns related to data, queries, database integrity, and database quality. Communicate and coordinate with other College departments to correct data errors in Colleague. Understand and apply evolving data management techniques and practices to ensure clear and accurate solutions.
Assist with developing grant performance measures/outcomes and evaluation plans as needed. Provide statistical arguments and data to facilitate grant applications and renewals and fulfill grant evaluation and reporting requirements.
Provide research design and data interpretation recommendations and instructions to a variety of constituencies and clients.
Securely upload data to and query data from the state transfer data system (ASSIST). Accurately format, securely upload, retrieve, validate, aggregate, protect, and store transfer enrollment and completion student-level data, including Personally Identifiable Information (PII) from the national transfer data system (National Student Clearinghouse). Strictly adhere to FERPA legal requirements for the protection of PlI.
Participate in professional development activities and on-campus meetings and serve on committees as necessary. Support and participate in strategic initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned.
