The Teachers in Industry Internship position is a part-time summer internship offered within Raytheon’s Engineering Organization for educators currently enrolled in the University of Arizona’s Teachers In Industry program in the College of Education. Intern assignments will be Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)-related projects within Engineering and may include (but are not limited to) analysis, design, development, testing and/or production support of Effector products within Engineering or support of internal Engineering processes and tools. These assignments will allow the interns to experience real-world STEM employment in Systems, Software, Mechanical, Electrical, Test or Specialty discipline areas so that they may bring their experiences back to their classrooms.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
- Part-time (32 hours per week) internship with Raytheon in combination with ongoing enrollment in the U of A TII program
- Task assignments within a program or Raytheon project aligned with STEM experience of the TII program
- Mentoring and coaching from program or project team members enabling completion of program assignments
- Participation in TII Intern experience opportunities such as lab tours, engineering training and knowledge-sharing sessions, and networking events
- Written program summary to be provided at the end of the internship period
Basic Qualifications:
- Participation in the University of Arizona’s Teachers In Industry Program
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree
- Currently teaching students science, technology, engineering, math, computer science, or other STEM subjects
- This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in math, physics, chemistry, computer science, or engineering
- Basic Microsoft computer skills, specifically Word, Excel, and Power Point
- Experience leading technical teams or projects
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment
