Overhaul Test Engineering plays a critical role in overseeing the factory acceptance testing to for Solar's gas turbine engines. Various engineering disciplines are employed in this position. They include: turbine engine operation, aerothermal performance, combustion, rotor dynamics and vibration, mechanical integrity of hardware, data acquisition and analysis, interacting and troubleshooting with various electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic/fuel/cooling systems, working with industrial automation (PLC).
Candidate should posess good fundamental engineering, communication, and teamwork skills. This position will provide Test Engineering technical and leadership support in a team-oriented production environment assuring the quality and reliability for one or more Solar products. There will be extensive interaction with Solar design engineering, Solar product engineering, production operations and engineering personnel in Solar worldwide Overhaul Test facilities.
Activities include:
Perform validation testing of gas turbines products.
Analyze and approve engine test data including performance and rotor-dynamic vibration data.
Provide leadership and support to Test Technicians
Define test facility requirements to support production and continuous improvement and help define capital projects.
Utilize database, data analysis tools, and computer acquisition systems to extract and analyze critical engine characteristics.
Maintain test cell readiness and uptime by ensuring equipment and software operation.
Troubleshoot engine, package and facility issues utilizing data analysis tools and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
Compile certified test reports and serve as prime technical contact for testing.
Interact with customers, Engineering, Project Management and Operations is considerable.
Minimum Requirements:
Currently pursuing a B.S. or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related degree.
Overall GPA of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, resolve complex problems, and make sound technical decisions.
0-3 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Requirements:
Understanding of basic turbomachinery.
Internships in manufacturing environment or in an engineering role.
Proficiency in Excel, macros programming languages and functions.
Familiarity of programmable logic controllers.
Demonstrated communication skills (verbal and written).
