Immuno-Oncology Research at Moderna is seeking a talented and motivated co-op to join our efforts in supporting the development of new mRNA-based drugs for cancer therapy through translational research. The Co-op will use cell and molecular biology techniques to characterize patient tumor samples and will have the opportunity to help define translational research endpoints that will be applicable in the clinic, such as potency of drugs in development, intensity of target expression, and readouts of activity and efficacy. The Co-op will work on an individual project that is important to Moderna Oncology’s mission with support from an experienced mentor who will provide guidance on projects and career development.
Our summer/fall co-op program is from July 15th to December 13th - All applicants must be available and onsite for the entire duration of the program, 40 hrs/week.
Here’s What You’ll Do:
Receive training in lab research techniques, learn how to design and execute studies, and perform data analysis
Assist with target-defining flow cytometry experiments and become familiar with various flow cytometers and complex multicolor panels
Perform and/or support experiments and assays such as primary cell isolation, cell culture, ELISA/MSD assays, cell-based functional assays, and tissue processing for pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies
Collaborate with multiple project teams within IO to support translational research activities
Maintain an organized work area and electronic lab notebook
Analyze experimental data and present your work at group and team meetings
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications):
Biology, immunology, biochemistry, bioengineering, and related majors are encouraged to apply, including BS and MS candidates
Previous co-op experience is a plus
Technical experience in the following areas is preferred: mammalian tissue culture, cell transfection, protein detection methods (MSD/ELISA), assay development and troubleshooting
Prior experience in flow cytometry is a plus
The candidate should be self-motivated and possess the desire to drive a project to completion. The co-op must be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
