Form of workPURPOSE OF JOB: Provided leadership for the school's entire athletic program through the ongoing development, implementation and improvement of specific sport coached. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Serve as assistant coach for 4 High School swim teams.
2. Assist in implementing athletic standards as outlined in the MSHSAA Handbook and attend all MSHSAA required sessions; 3. Assume head coach duties if one or more head coaches are absent; 4.
Assist with all swim meets hosted by KCPS; 5. Help provide information for transportation, facilities, officials and game management; 6. Help organize and schedule practice sessions on a regular basis with the objective of developing the student-athlete's greatest potential; 7.
Emphasize safety precautions and be aware of the best training and injury management procedures; 8. Conduct team and self in an ethical manner during practices and contests, always exemplifying the highest standards of sportsmanship; 9. Work with High School swimmers conditioning during off season.
(Girls during boys season, and Boys during girls season); 10. Continue professional growth through clinics and professional publications; 11. Must successfully complete the MSHSAA/NFHS Coaching Principles Course and Sports First Aid Courses; 12.
Serve as middle school swim instructor/coach; 13. Work with swim coordinator to actively recruit 7th and 8th grade students from feeder middle schools; 14. Teach/Coach middle school students 2 days a week during the Girls swim season; 15.
Coach middle school students up to 2 months after the end of the Girls season (2 days a week); 16. Work with participating districts for potential swim get-togethers and possibly host one; SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Student-athletes MINIMUM QUALIFICATION: 1. Must have a Teachers Certificate or valid Substitute Certificate or Temporary (provisional) Teacher's Certificate.
2. Extensive knowledge in aquatics, stroke development, and water safety. 3.
Possess a current CPR/First aid certification. (or obtain within 2 weeks of starting the position) PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Be a full or part-time employee in the District.
2. Employed in the school as a teacher or administrator in which the candidate applies for a position. 3.
Lifeguard Certified 4.
