About Us:

Guided by the agency's mission "To reduce recidivism among those we touch," the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is looking for a dedicated security minded professional to assume the responsibilities of aParole Program Specialist- Community Corrections Auditor.

This position is located within the Bureau of Community Sanctions. Headquarters to be determined based on selected candidate. Hours M-F 8:00am to 4:45pm.

Schedule may vary due to travel requirements.

The position’s primary duties include conducting program reviews/audits on bureau standards and coaching residential and non-residential organizations on evidence-based practices, assessing adherence to grant and contract requirements, and processing fiscal reviews/reports.

Preferred Candidate will have direct work experience or possess skills in the following areas:

Community corrections experience - Supervising staff and providing oversight and work direction - Providing direct service to justice involved individuals - Establishing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with internal employees, community partners, and the public - Report writing - Conducting program evaluations, assessments or audits - Conducting investigations - Coaching or training adults in evidence-based practices - Conducting or reviewing assessments and case plans - Documenting and interpreting statistical data - Managing short and long-term projects - Delivering presentations and/or training adults in small and large groups - Monitoring fiscal data and/or providing grant oversight - Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Software:(TEAMS, Outlook, PowerPoint, & Word)

What You'll Do:

Job Duties:

  • Plans and conducts program reviews/audits for residential/non-residential community correction organizations
  • Reviews and approves compliance driven action plans
  • Plans and conducts coaching sessions for residential/non-residential community correction organizations regarding standard compliance
  • Prepares, reviews, and/or oversees preparation of program review/audit and coaching reports, publications, or other assigned reports
  • Maintains/utilizes spreadsheets, databases, and other electronic storage systems to track and analyze performance and compliance
  • Conducts on-site visits and investigations
  • Reviews grant applications
  • Reviews and approves grant funded fiscal and performance reports.
  • Participates on committees and attends meetings, conferences and other required training and certifications
  • Serves as a liaison between bureau stakeholders and/or other sources to explain and interpret policy, rules and regulations
  • Coordinates and/or provides training for external community correction programs, ODRC employees
  • Participates and assists with special projects as assigned
  • Responds to inquiries from the public and internal/external partners
  • Utilizes software such as Microsoft (TEAMS, Outlook, PowerPoint, & Word) to communicate with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Requires travel that includes over-night stays within the state of Ohio
  • May be required to have own transportation
  • Performs other bureau duties as assigned

Qualifications

6 yrs. trg. or 6 yrs. exp. in community corrections to include report writing, offender treatment referrals, offender service delivery & participation in corrections/criminal justice agencies operations & investigations; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. providing work direction &/or training; valid Ohio Driver's license.
  • Or completion of undergraduate core program in criminology, criminal justice, law enforcement, sociology, social work, psychology or related field; 48 mos. trg. or 48 mos. exp. in community corrections to include report writing, offender treatment referrals, offender service delivery & participation in corrections/criminal justice agencies operations & investigations; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. providing work direction &/or training; valid Ohio Driver's license.

  • Or completion of graduate core program in criminology, criminal justice, law enforcement, sociology, social work, psychology or related field; 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in community corrections to include report writing, offender treatment referrals, offender service delivery & participation in correction/criminal justice agencies operations & investigations; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. providing work direction &/or training; valid Ohio Driver's license.

  • Or 12 mos. exp. as Senior Parole Officer, 69812; valid Ohio Driver's license.

  • Or 24 mos. exp. as Parole Officer, 69810 or 69811; valid Ohio Driver's license.

  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
