The Fund for Public Health in New York City (FPHNYC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to the advancement of the health and well-being of all New Yorkers.  To this end, in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), FPHNYC incubates innovative public health initiatives implemented by DOHMH to advance community health throughout the city. It facilitates partnerships, often new and unconventional, between government and the private sector to develop, test, and launch new initiatives. Hepatitis C Data and Evaluation Manager

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The NYC Health Department, Bureau of Hepatitis, HIV and STIs, Viral Hepatitis Program (VHP) works to reduce morbidity and mortality associated with Hepatitis B and C in NYC. The Capacity Building unit within VHP administers multiple direct service programs through contracts with syringe exchange programs, community organizations, hospitals, and health centers.

This position will be funded through OD2A, via a five-year cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control. This position is housed at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in Long Island City.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Data and Evaluation Manager will work with the Hepatitis C Community Navigation Project Director and Capacity Building Director to maintain data collection systems, contribute to grant reporting and evaluate program activities related to hepatitis C linkage to care and overdose prevention.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage database systems and conduct routine analysis for viral hepatitis interventions in the Capacity Building unit. This includes:
    • Clean, manage, analyze and display data using analytic software (including SAS, Tableau, Salesforce, Dedoose/InVivo).
    • Produce tables, reports, presentations and manuscripts based on findings for internal and public dissemination.
    • Provide technical assistance to contracted partners through training sessions and remote assistance.
    • Respond to special data requests as needed
  • Develop and manage evaluation activities to measure the success of overdose prevention training series and linkage to care activities and identify areas of improvement.
  • Apply quantitative and qualitative methods and data visualization techniques to evaluate implementation and outcomes of viral hepatitis interventions.
  • Present on health research literature and program data for a variety of audiences, including health department leadership, other staff, federal funders, and community partners.
  • Support development of grant applications, deliverable data collection tools and reports as needed.
  • Work collaboratively as a member of the Capacity Building unit including active participation in events that are led by the Viral Hepatitis Program and related to viral hepatitis elimination.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in public health, epidemiology, or a related field
  • Basic knowledge of viral hepatitis trends, epidemiology and prevention is preferred
  • At least one year of experience in a similar role, working in public health data management and evaluation is highly valued
  • Strong working knowledge of SAS, Excel and other MS Office software
  • Working knowledge of REDCap, Tableau, Salesforce, and Dedoose/InVivo is preferred
  • Firm grasp of public health and health or social services evaluation
  • Excellent analytical skills and reasoning with attention to detail
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team

FPHNYC offers a comprehensive benefits package

        Salary range is $83,000 to $88,694

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday

35 hours per week.
