ZooWorld is hiring animal care team members who believe in the mission, to enhance the lives of the zoo's animals, staff and guests through memorable and meaningful experiences.
A Zookeeper will:
- Provide daily care and maintenance for animals in a professional and compassionate manner.
- Feed, water, and clean animal enclosures according to established schedules and protocols.
- Monitor animal behavior and health, reporting any concerns or changes to the appropriate supervisor.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinary staff.
- Assist with veterinary procedures, including animal restraint and handling.
- Maintain accurate records of animal care, including feeding schedules, medical treatments, and behavioral observations.
- Clean and sanitize animal enclosures, equipment, and common areas to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
- Provide exercise and enrichment activities for animals to promote physical and mental well-being.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in working with animals in a professional setting. Farm work is acceptable.
- Knowledge of animal husbandry practices and principles.
- Experience working with a variety of animals, including small mammals, birds, reptiles, and/or equine species.
- Ability to handle animals safely and confidently using appropriate restraint techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols accurately.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with team members, clients, and veterinary staff.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $12.50 - $14.50 per hour
