The Town of Windsor introduces a great opportunity for a part-time Zoning Enforcement Officer (ZEO) to work in a team-based environment enforcing the Town of Windsor Zoning Regulations (regulations). Connecticut's first town is strategically located on the beautiful Farmington and Connecticut Rivers between Hartford and Springfield, Massachusetts and is home to over 29,000 residents and a wide array of local and corporate businesses.
The Town of Windsor is an organization made up of diverse individuals who are committed to providing quality service through integrity, responsiveness, innovation, passion and partnership. The Windsor Building Department has a staff of five who work within a larger comprehensive Development Services Team that is dedicated to the safe, balanced conservation and development of the town. This position is for approximately 29 hours a week with a salary range of $24 to $29 hourly depending on qualifications and experience. Work hours are scheduled generally between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday but may require after-hours inspections and attendance at monthly Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) meetings, as needed.
The ZEO is primarily responsible for interpreting and enforcing the regulations and providing administrative and technical assistance to the ZBA. The ZEO investigates observed and reported violations of the regulations, interprets whether they are actual violations, enforces the regulations when necessary to correct the violation, and defends appeals of enforcement actions before the ZBA.

Minimum Requirements:
- Connecticut Association of Zoning Enforcement Officials (CAZEO) Certification required or in the process of obtaining.
- H.S. diploma or GED equivalent plus three years of experience with construction, inspection and/ or code/regulatory enforcement involving public contact or any combination of training and/or that provides a demonstrated ability to perform the duties of this position.
- Proficient in MS Office suite, Internet browsers and other programs as needed
- Ability to work safely and independently
- Valid driver's license in good standing
- Successful completion of the Town of Windsor's pre-employment background check and drug screen - includes marijuana testing
