Heart House in the Vickery Meadow neighborhood of Dallas, TX welcomes AmeriCorps members in collaboration with CitySquare. The mission of Heart House is to empower refugee, immigrant, and under-resourced children in Vickery Meadow by providing enhanced opportunities for educational equity through literacy and social-emotional learning.
This summer, we invite members to serve their communities in one of these roles:
· The AmeriCorps Teaching Associate will assist and lead students in innovative academic lessons and activities, mentor students regularly, assist with student assessments, and tutor students if needed.
· The AmeriCorps Community & Family Engagement Associate will develop family engagement activities, lead community outreach, recruit volunteers, and communicate regularly with families.

Benefits of becoming a CitySquare AmeriCorps Member:
- Members will be paid $3,000 (broken down and paid in twice monthly installments during the term- $1,466 per month)
- Members receive a $1,459.26 education award at the end of their term (can be used for future tuition or student loans)

- Some service positions may fulfill college and university internship requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Available from June 3-August 2, 2024 (9 weeks)
- Available 35-40 hours per week: Monday-Friday 8am to 3:30pm
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Deferred action and temporary permanent resident do not qualify)
- Able to access reliable transportation
- Able to pass a criminal background check
Preferred Qualifications:
- Some college and/or nonprofit experience
- Intercultural experience working with children
