What you get: In exchange for your time and talent, this position pays $20.00 per hour including a free fitness membership to 4500 Fitness.
When you’ll work: This position will typically work two Tuesday evenings per season. Each class is one hour long, but the shift will be a total of 2 hours (with 30 minutes of set up and 30 minutes of clean up). If we need to cancel due to low enrollment, emergency, or other unforeseen circumstances, there will not be any make up days. Class dates are pre-determined but can be flexible for any future seasons depending on your schedule. Here are the set dates so far in 2024:
Tuesday, 2/13 from 6:00-7:00pm
- Tuesday, 3/12 from 6:00-7:00pm
- Tuesday, 4/16 from 6:00-7:00pm
- Tuesday, 5/14 from 6:00-7:00pm
- Tuesday, 7/9 from 6:30-7:30pm
- Tuesday, 8/6 from 6:30-7:30pm
- Prepare room for class use by setting up materials, making sure tables and chairs are set up correctly, and gathering cleaning supplies
- Greet parents and children as they arrive
- Check in each child upon arrival
- Lead pre-planned and themed Slime activities according to the provided outline, making accommodations when necessary
- Ensure Park District’s safety policies are being followed and implemented
- Make sure every child is picked up by their parent/guardian after class
- Call parent/guardian from a park district phone if necessary for any accidents or late pick ups
- Clean up room after all children have been picked up using provided cleaning supplies and make sure extra supplies are neatly organized on the counter
- 18 years of age or older
- Must exhibit creative problem-solving abilities, adaptability, safety awareness, good judgment, and respect towards everyone
- Possess good communication skills and ability to work cooperatively with supervisors and the general public
- Must be able to display a positive, upbeat demeanor
- Must be able to work independently
- Must have prior experience supervising children
- Must possess certification in CPR and First Aid, or become certified within 3 months of being hired (free training provided by the Park District if needed)
- Previous experience leading children’s activities preferred
