- Embraces the mission, vision and values of the library
- Upholds ALA’s Library Bill or Rights, Code of Ethics, and Freedom to Read statement
- Provides outstanding customer service in person, via phone, and via email
- Understands, interprets, explains, and applies relevant policies and procedures
- Organizes and executes programming to targeted age groups
- Is an ambassador for the library both within and outside of the building
- Serves as a leader, coach, and mentor
- Performs all the duties of a Youth Services Assistant
- Serves as acting supervisor when a manager or the director is unavailable
- Assists colleagues with special events and other projects as assigned
- Assists in various aspects of Collection Management
- Helps develop and execute the Summer Reading Program
- At least 3 years customer service experience in libraries; college degree preferred; other qualifications considered
- Ability to communicate well with others
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work while exceeding the needs of library patrons
- Ability to work independently with little direct supervision
- Ability and desire to work as part of a team
- Physical demands include lifting 25 pounds regularly, sitting, standing, reaching, crouching, and repetitive tasks
- Ability to work regularly scheduled shifts (including daytime, evening, and weekend hours) and flexibility to work extra hours as needed
- Regular and predictable attendance
