The Ephrata Public Library is seeking a passionate and enthusiastic part-time (22 hours/week) Youth Services Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong love for children's literature and a desire to foster a lifelong love of reading and learning among children aged birth to 5. This position is primarily responsible for planning and conducting engaging library programs for preschool-aged patrons.
Responsibilities include:
1. Develops and conducts creative, educational and entertaining programs and special events for children and their families that encourage lifetime literacy, with a special focus on the PA Forward literacies.
2. Collaborates with schools, community organizations and other agencies to promote library services and programs to children.
3. Actively seeks program presenters and exhibitions.
4. Stay updated on current trends in children's literature, educational methods, and library services.
The ideal candidate will have an MLS (preferred), or a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field. This position has a starting salary of $15/hour with paid vacation, sick and personal time. Some evenings and weekends required.
