The Children's Home of Reading Youth & Family Services is seeking aYouth Behavioral Specialist Intern
POSITION STATEMENT:
The Youth Behavioral Specialist Intern will have the opportunity to learn about residential behavioral health by providing supervision, guidance, boundaries and direction to adolescent youth. Demonstrate a variety of counseling, communication and parenting skills, which support the formation of trusting, supportive relationships with the residents. Youth Behavioral Specialist Interns conduct job responsibilities under the supervision of residential staff (i.e., Supervisors, Senior Youth Behavioral Specialists, Youth Behavioral Specialists, etc.).

Job Duties:
- Must be available to work evening shifts, weekends and holidays
- Supervise residents (under the supervision of residential staff) during academic instruction and recreational activities and handle behavioral issues while following program policies and procedures
- Oversee resident health and hygiene, complete room and personal searches in accordance with program policies and record reports (i.e. incident reports) in a timely manner
- Physically restrains residents (only when necessary to ensure safety) following passive restraint training in accordance with program policies
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age
- Language Ability - ability to read, write and comprehend information. Ability to effectively communicate with residents, peers, clients, employees and administration. Ability to professionally write detailed reports.
- Reasoning Ability - ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and sometimes involved written and oral directions. Ability to interpret routine instructions without difficulty. Ability to apply rational/calm reasoning when confronted with difficult and/or ambiguous situations.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in a related field, having completed at least 60 credits
