PROGRAM DESIGN: Roads to Success (RTS) facilitates a variety of youth programs including after-school, summer camps, retreats, conferences and summer employment opportunities reaching thousands of young people throughout NYC each year. RTS emphasizes the youth development practice of the Circle of Courage in all our programs; creating an environment of Belonging, where young people can build their Independence, find and develop their Mastery skill, and practice Generosity in their communities. At the core of our programs are staff training strategies that enable our young professionals to develop extraordinarily meaningful relationships with the young people in their care who we call Our Future Leaders because that is what they all are. 

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Youth Employment Coordinator role will coordinate and support Program Directors efforts with enrollment and placements. Support program staff with efforts in keeping participants engaged and active during each program cycle.  Support with compiling required documents and performing related tasks to meet DYCD Audit compliance. This position will play an important role in developing soft skills for future Worksite Interns.   

ORGANIZATIONAL ROLE: 

Supervisor: Program Director  

Supervises: Participants between the age of 14-24  

Hours: Seasonal, 35 hours, Monday – Friday  

Compensation: $25-$27 per hour based on experience 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Collaborate with PD to identify students’ career interests and develop tailored internship placement  

  • Support in maintaining all paperwork associated with the internship placement process  

  • Support with planning and executing career panels, fairs and workshops in collaboration with other team members.  

  • Provide guidance to Worksite Monitors/Instructors on maximizing internship experiences by modeling effective relationship skills with adolescents.  

  • Conduct outreach to support increasing participant engagement during program cycle  

  • Support with all implementation and execution of all aspects of the recruitment and enrollment process.  

  • Support the handling of sensitive and required documents, to support Audit compliance 

  • Engage students’ families, as needed, to support the completion of their internship   

  • Support the day-to-day operations of program staff during program hours  

  • The Youth Employment Coordinator may perform other duties as assigned by the Director. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred. 

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in benefits administration, social services, or a related field. 

  • Deep understanding of public benefit programs. 

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. 

  • Proficiency in data management and reporting systems. 

  • Experience in crisis intervention and support. 

WORKING CONDITIONS 

  • Work takes place in one or more school buildings, which may require climbing stairs. 

  • Typical job hours are 9 am -5 pm, Monday - Friday, and events will take place during occasional nights and weekends. 

  • Travel via public transportation or car may be required throughout NYC.

  • Adapt to changing environments and needs, fostering innovation and engagement through change leadership.  

  • Represent the program, its participants, staff, and families at various levels, advocating for their needs and the program's success.
