YOUTH EMPLOYMENT AIDE
ROCKLAND COUNTY YOUTH BUREAU
The Rockland County Youth Bureau is seeking a candidate to perform routine work that provides support to the Youth Bureau’s Youth Employment training program, Teen Employment Education Network (T.E.E.N. Works). This is a part-time seasonal position that adheres to the T.E.E.N. Works schedule outlined below.
T.E.E.N. Works will be administered in three separate sessions:
Session 1: March 26, 2024 – April 18, 2024 from 3:00 – 6:00 PM on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in Spring Valley.
Session 2: April 30, 2024 – May 23, 2024 from 3:00 – 6:00 PM on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in North Rockland.
Session 3: July 8, 2024 – August 8, 2024 from 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays and Thursdays at Rockland Community College
Job description: This position is primarily responsible for facilitating T.E.E.N. Works employment trainings to young people. The employment trainings include experiential activities for teens and young adults to strengthen their ability to become self-sufficient and responsible. The work is performed under the general supervision of a higher-level Youth Bureau Staff.
Job Responsibilities Include:
· Provides basic information to participants in Youth Employment programs, especially the Teen Employment Education Network (T.E.E.N) Works program, in order to inform such participants about basic workforce skills (e.g., interpersonal skills) and standards, program activities and requirements, etc.;
· Participates in T.E.E.N Works program training modules by explaining goals, encouraging participants, answering routine questions, presenting basic information, distributing informational materials, etc., in accordance with established curriculum and program procedures;
· Observes participants’ responses (verbal and behaviors) to the program and training, progress, etc. and, using a structured form, summarizes such observations;
· Provides information to program coordinators regarding participants’ progress or problems;
· Attends meetings, as needed;
· Completes structured assessment forms for participants;
· May make recommendations regarding training for participants.
Required Qualifications: Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma one (1) year of paid work experience.
Other Requirements and Information:Possession of a valid driver’s license or accessibility to transportation to meet fieldwork requirements in a timely and efficient manner.
Salary and benefits are competitive with the public sector market including but not limited to the following:
