RESPONSIBILITIES
This position is responsible for planning educational activities for a diverse group of children with varying developmental needs within the Special Needs program, which includes embedding our mission of eliminating racism and empowering women within the program. The Site Coordinator will also be responsible for building and maintaining open communication with child care families, planning/implementing curriculum, and guiding the other members of the teaching team. This individual reviews IEP’s (Individual Education Plan) for children enrolled, completes developmental assessments, and follows the recommendations of the Special Needs Advisory Committee to ensure a well-run program. This individual will also need to be knowledgeable of DCFS regulations and best practices in working with children with Special Needs.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Experience working with Special Needs students and a minimum of 6 credit hours in education required.
- Bachelors in Special Education or Child Development preferred.
- Must meet DCFS Teacher regulations.
- Proficiency in English required.
- Good verbal and written communication skills required.
- Proficient in at least one other language is helpful
- Must be available to start as soon as possible.
WORK HOURS
Part time, Monday-Friday, 15-20 hours per week, between the hours of 2:00 pm and 5:30 pm; and up to 40 hours during the summer for summer camp.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00 per hour
