Chicago Survivors (CS) offers crime victim and support services to surviving family members of Chicago homicide victims. Our services are free, voluntary and open to all. Our services are survivor-shaped, trauma-informed, family-centered and delivered primarily in survivors’ homes. Our staff includes bilingual Spanish/English speakers, and all staff can access real-time translation services in other languages.
Chicago Survivors also works to reform and enhance systems that families encounter in the aftermath of homicide. Chicago Survivors trains law enforcement officers, prosecutors, Medical Examiner’s Office personnel, hospital staff and others, and advocates for victim-centered and trauma-informed systems change.
Experience
· At least 3 years of experience counseling youth, caregivers and/or family systems dealing with complex and vicarious trauma grief.
· At least 2 years of clinical supervision experience with demonstrated leadership in developing programs, building team members and conflict resolution skill set.
· Background and/or training in evidence-based, trauma-focused interventions.
· Understanding of confidentiality and creating boundaries, particularly within the work culture.
Youth Clinical Counseling Program Manager (YCCPM) will be primarily responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the Youth Clinical Team. They will delegate roles and responsibilities of the immediate triage response to families with identified youth directly exposed to trauma after violent loss. The YCCPM will be expected to directly assess and implement therapeutic responses/interventions to the youth and caregivers in situ. Services are provided primarily in the home or within the environment of where the youth inhabits, i.e., school, park districts, program facilities.
The YCCPM will be expected to provide quality – evidence based - intensive supportive counseling services and comprehensive referrals for a caseload estimated at about 20 victims per quarter. Participation and facilitation of groups and specialized grief support and programming for Caregivers and their children will be provided by the YCCPM. Additional trainings will be provided and supported by supervision with the Director of Clinical Services.
YCCPM oversees and proposes plans and manages the day-to-day programmatic components of Chicago Survivors youth team initiatives including, but not limited to, screening, assessment, intake, individual and group counseling, treatment planning, case management, cross team care coordination, documentation, clinical supervision, maintain participant attendance and tracking systems, and oversight of any/all assigned clinical and therapeutic initiatives; collaborates with supervisor, key staff, and external partners to aid in execution.
The YCCPM will additionally oversee the Master’s Level Internship students and their reporting processes. This role will work as a direct report to the Director of Program Operations for monthly reporting totals, the design and implementation of programming projects and protocols- such as summer initiatives, advocacy events, school based pilots, trainings, community workshops i.e.,.
