Yard Manager

Are you a self-motivated individual capable of working independently? Do you possess strong planning skills with an ability to create effective timelines? Are you comfortable working both indoors and outdoors, engaging in a mix of computer-based tasks and hands-on activities? Do you bring experience in Warehouse management to the table? In this role, your primary objective is to supervise the secure receipt, storage, retrieval, and timely loading of materials. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety standards, taking charge of the security of buildings, grounds, materials, and equipment. Collaboration and assistance within the team are crucial aspects of each team member's role.

Qualifications:

• Proficient in planning and creating effective timelines.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
• Successful completion of drug, MVR, and background screenings.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Relevant experience in managing yards and overseeing personnel.
• Willingness and ability to work overtime, including Saturdays.
• Proven ability to set and achieve goals.
• Demonstrated sense of responsibility.
• Professional and ethical conduct.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the secure receipt, storage, retrieval, and timely loading of materials.
• Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards, taking responsibility for the security of buildings, grounds, materials, and equipment.
• Foster a cooperative and helpful team environment.
• Assist team members and promote respect and cooperation.
• Plan daily routines, including kitting material, loading trailers, and coordinating driver pickups and drop-offs.
• Record equipment pickups and returns in the computer system.
• Ensure timely receipt of equipment from third-party vendors.
• Record materials received back from jobs, noting part numbers, quantities, and job references.
• Promptly handle receipt and/or shortages on packing slips, turning them in at the end of each day.
• Track tools and equipment.
• Motivate, organize, and encourage teamwork to ensure productivity.
• Recruit, train, and monitor team members, providing praise and addressing concerns promptly.
• Develop and execute contingency plans for emergencies such as power loss or extreme weather requiring non-standard operating hours.
• Maintain safety, cleanliness, and security of the work environment.
• Manage ground maintenance, including cold weather planning, snow removal, salting, mowing, bush trimming, and spot painting.
• Maintain buildings and coordinate with subcontractors for maintenance (e.g., plumbing, HVAC).
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
