Form of workPOSITION SUMMARY: The Yard Manager is a working position and will also oversee all operations of the Industrial Scrap Yard.
REPORTS TO: District Manager
SUPERVISES: Yard Supervisor, Scale Clerk, Heavy Equipment Operator, Buy Room Operator
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead employees and delegate daily job tasks
Manage inventory of ferrous and non-ferrous commodities
Customer service with daily peddler foot traffic
Collaborate with Freight Team on inbound/outbound loads
Keep the yard clean, organized, and safe to maintain efficiency
Maintain equipment and communicate needs with Maintenance Director
Requirements
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Previous knowledge and understanding of ferrous and non-ferrous commodities preferred
Heavy equipment operator experience preferred but not required
COMPETENCIES:
Minimum 2 years leadership experience
Self-starter that takes initiative
Strong interpersonal, communication and organization skills
Ability to multitask and adhere to deadlines
Team player attitude
Eagerness to learn and grow with the company
Ability to adhere to company attendance policy
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Physical Activity: Talking, hearing, repetitive motion, stooping, crouching, standing, walking, lifting, and climbing stairs
Physical Requirements: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Visual Acuity: Ability to operate machinery and determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned including to make general observations of facilities.
The worker is subject to environmental conditions. Some protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Also subject to dust, dirt, and extreme noise.

$55,000 to $65,000 based on experience
