Job Description
- Coordination and Supervision – Coordinate, manage, supervise and monitor the workings of the production in the yard. Direct and monitor Supervisors to accomplish goals of the production plan consistent with the established safety procedures. Acts as a liaison between department management/subordinate levels, as well as executive/department manager levels to inform personnel of communications, decisions, policies and all matters that affect their performance, attitudes and results.
- Management Operations Team – Maintain an active position on the entire organization’s management team along with the General Manager and Regional Marketing Director, developing, formulating and executing long and short-range planning, programs and objectives.
- Sales - Meets routinely with the Sales to forecast work requirements. Review new incoming orders daily. Have daily continuous interaction with the sales team.
- Human Resources – Work with HR to hire, train, develop and evaluate staff. Delegate tasks and accountabilities. Establish work schedules. Supervise staff. Responsible for payroll time keeping and approval. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policies and handbook. Ensures staffing is maintained at a sufficient level to meet production goals while controlling direct labor costs without undue reliance on overtime. Ensures compliance with current federal, state and local regulations. Consult with Human Resource as appropriate.
- Financial – Review financial statements and data. Review and approve bills for payment for work incurred. Utilize financial data to improve profitability. Participate with the management team in the preparation and control of operational budgets. Control inventory. Plan effective strategies for the financial well-being of the company.
- Ensures that Quality, Environmental, and Safety processes meet all Metalico and Governmental compliance standards
- Reviews sales contracts and ensures contract terms and conditions are met.
- Maintain close communication with maintenance manager to identify equipment conditions and repairs to assist in prioritizing the order of importance.
- Maintain good business contacts and favorable relations with current customers (scrap dealers, peddlers, and other suppliers) by regularly keeping in contact to assure meeting plant requirements for ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal.
- Gather and maintain appropriate information about the local market for raw material concerning cost trends, availability of supply, and competitor information.

- High School Diploma/GED, BS degree preferred in Business or related discipline.
- A minimum of five (5) years of management experience.
- Up to 3 years of experience in a scrap business or 10 years in a related field, preferably in sales.
- Ability to identify, grade, and determine quality non-ferrous metals is required.
- Ability to identify, grade, and determine quality ferrous metals is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Tools including: Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Positive attitude, proactive, goal-oriented, self-starter, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Very strong interpersonal skills that will lend to a strong sales acumen.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Dependable, flexible, and ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment.
- Organized and attention to detail is required.
- Ability to multi-task with excellent time management skills.
- Ability to accurately document information in files, reports or other forms of communication.
- This position requires regular communication with Metalico managers and executives.
