Yards Brewing Company is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to join our team. The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for ensuring the quality of all production processes from raw material inputs, throughout production, and for the integrity of finished products in the market. They are responsible for creating, implementing, and strengthening a culture of continuous improvement throughout the quality department and other production departments. Job Responsibilities:
- Assures quality products and processes by establishing and enforcing quality and testing standards for raw materials, intermediate products, and finished products.
- Collaborates with other members of the management team to develop quality standards for all team members in production to ensure all products meet specifications.
- Improves product quality documentation system by writing and updating Quality Assurance procedures.
- Implements in-process product inspection standards by studying manufacturing methods and devising testing methods and procedures.
- Provides leadership and development of quality department team members through coaching, training, and mutual accountability.
- Oversees laboratory quality control team members and ensures product testing procedures are providing accurate results.
- Supports expansion and development of sensory programs for continuous evaluation of products.
- Collaborates with team members from all departments to identify, prioritize, and solve problems with a hands-on approach to support the achievement of brewery goals.
- Works with customers, and internal and external experts to develop product and process specifications.
- Supports Customer Service and communicates directly with customers and suppliers as appropriate regarding quality issues.
- Proactively evaluates current data and trends to suggest improvement ideas or corrective action activities to be worked on by cross-functional teams.
- Champions loss reduction and first pass yield improvement efforts in collaboration with other departments.
- Guides facility compliance during internal and external audits. Communicates audit results.
- Plans and directs all brewery Food Safety, HACCP, and GMP programs.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional associations.
- Accountable for department budgets and annual departmental operating plans to meet company and regulatory Quality & Food Safety goals.
- Accountable with the Director of Plant Operations to ensure that Quality & Food Safety compliance activities are executed to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor of Science in a related science discipline (Chemistry, Microbiology, Biology, Food Science etc.) or equivalent
- 5+ years’ experience in a managerial position, preferably in the beverage industry.
- Knowledge of the Brewing process and science is preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of GMP and HACCP programs; HACCP certification, is preferred.
- Ability to work closely with all business processes and functions.
- Strong independent thinking, strong organizational and planning abilities, and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
- Ability to train, teach, and mentor team members to develop a strong team.
- Ability to define, drive, and implement change.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, ability to define problems, and think critically.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of government regulatory requirements in a food/beverage processing facility
- Excellent customer relations skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and resources effectively.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite – and statistical software.

- This is a Full-Time salaried position with a minimum requirement of 40 hours per week
- Compensation commensurate with experience
