JOB PURPOSE
Based in our vendor partner offices and studios in New York, NY, the XR Video Editor will work closely with the Service Delivery Manager, Production Supervisor and Coordinator, vendors, and the rest of the resources within the Gravity and vendor partner’s ecosystem to coordinate, prepare and supervise projects that will be run from client’s facility. With the expansion in our Virtual Reality/Extended Reality video teams, the XR Video Editor will focus on editing and packaging Extended Reality/Virtual Reality video and audio (both rectilinear and in-projection). Occasionally, this position may be required to attend a remote event and may be required to respond to critical situations after normal work hours.
Gravity Media’s XR department helps operate high-end video production facilities on-site at our vendor partners’ global technology company.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Transfer, stitch, ingest, log and edit Extended Reality and rectilinear video content. Edit 180˚ and 360˚ immersive video on a wide variety of projects and create a broad set of assets, as requested.
- Support creation of assets to be included in XR virtual events and edit materials to support XR production, including event elements and completed event programs.
- Take projects from the final moment on set or in-headset to a fully finished video piece that is ready for distribution.
- Uphold, maintain, and enhance quality standards throughout project lifecycle.
- Provide excellent customer service and communication to all stakeholders, including senior- level stakeholders, during all phases of studio production and client interaction.
- Supervise and oversee post-production flow on large-scale multi-element projects.
- Complete detailed reports upon project completion
- Create, update, and enhance technical standards and procedure documentation.
- Collaborate with the client and production team members to understand needs, design basic storyboards, and create and edit animation.
- Provide basic immersive motion graphics to be deployed in-headset. Create basic XR graphics packages.
- Work creatively to produce original and aesthetically pleasing designs and solutions. Follow branding guidelines.
- Create a project timeline that is feasible but ambitious and meets all deadlines.
- Juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced production environment.
- Devise creative solutions to problems as they arise.
- Liaise and work effectively with other design and production staff and be a central point of communication with the client/partner during the process.
- Direct and mix narration and sound effects, when required.
- Listen to feedback and altering animations to better suit client needs.
- Offer advanced knowledge of After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Photoshop.
- QUALIFICATIONS
- 4-8 years of previous hands-on editing experience
- 1-3 years of previous hands-on editing experience with extended reality media (AR/VR/XR)
- Ability to execute editorial in a timely manner
- Expertise in stitching of VR source media
- Familiarity with in-headset editing workflows
- Expertise with digital editing systems such as Premiere Pro and the Creative Cloud.
- Post-production entails digital video editing, still and motion graphics design, and video compression for multiple delivery platforms.
- Must have excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong client relations and interfacing skills
- Ability to thrive in a team environment
- Occasional travel may be required
- Written and verbal communication proficiency
- Organized and strong leadership abilities
PHSYICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to sit, reach outward or above the shoulder, stand, walk, handle with fingers, stand, bend, and stoop.
- Ability to operate a keyboard, view a video display terminal screen, ability to use telephone equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and push or pull up to 25 pounds.
