The Worship Leader will report to Senior Pastor.

Job Overview
We are seeking a Worship Leader, whose primary responsibility is to engage First Baptist Church of Newberry into meaningful sound Christ centered worship on a weekly basis. The Worship Leader will be responsible for overseeing the worship team and encouraging their personal growth (spiritually and musically). He or she will work alongside of the leadership of FBC Newberry to ensure that the overall vision of the church is being fulfilled through each department under his/her supervision.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Work with the senior pastor in planning and leading corporate, Christ-centered, theologically sound worship.
• Work with the media/sound teams for a smooth flow of services.
• Identify, recruit, and develop men and women who are gifted to lead worship, discipling them both in character and competency to prepare them to serve our church.
• Build a team culture and expectation of musicians and leaders who exemplify healthy church membership.
• Implement a vision and plan to consistently look for means to enhance, improve, and grow the worship ministry of FBC Newberry.
• Schedule and lead practices in preparation for worship gatherings.
• Accommodate all music needs for First Baptist Church of Newberry gatherings.
• Organize and manage personnel, resources, and facilities for the Worship Ministry.
• Make budget recommendations for a viable music ministry.
• Maintain a flexible schedule. Worship times and mid-week services along with practice times are included in the approximated 10 hours a week of music ministry. This would include office hours on a flexible schedule and can be coordinated with the Senior Pastor
• Order and maintain all music as well as ensuring proper licensing for the music used in worship gatherings.
• Oversee the use and care of musical instruments and media equipment including making recommendations regarding acquisition, disposal, and maintenance.
• Provide counsel for and coordinate musicians for funerals and weddings (upon request).
• Will be responsible to find replacement when you will be out due to vacation or other reasons.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Senior Pastor

Education, Skills, Characteristics, Qualifications
● Must be able to lead, shepherd, and manage all aspects of worship including aspects such as the Praise Team (made up of various ages), occasional age-specific music specials, and audio/visual as well as technical components.

● Must have familiarity with and use of multiple genres of Christian music to include traditional and contemporary styles with an expansive knowledge of current trends in worship music, which is conducive/worshipful to the congregation as a whole.

● Must possess proficiency in at least one instrument, allowing for praise team-led worship service (i.e., piano, keyboard, lead guitar).

● Must possess quality vocal skills.

● Must be able to implement a vision for continued growth, improvement, and enhancement of the worship ministry.

● Must be computer literate and have some working knowledge or familiarity with music/worship programs (i.e. PraiseCharts or MultiTracks - these programs are preferable, not mandatory).

● Must be organized and able to manage several ongoing tasks, possessing good people skills, be self-motivated, and able to work well individually as well as in a team setting.

● Must possess strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

● Must be a mature growing Christian actively involved in a denominationally like-minded church and possess some familiarity with Southern Baptist doctrine.

● Must be aligned with the church mission and vision statement as well as our statement of beliefs.

● Must be willing to become a member of First Baptist Church of Newberry.

Job Type

Part-time (10 hours per week*).

Schedule: Wed. 6 pm – 8 pm & Sun. 8:15 am-11:45 am as well as other scheduled time necessary to fulfill job responsibilities and meet the job expectation of at least 10 hours per week.*

*hours/schedule may vary depending upon scheduled events/meetings as well as necessary time needed to fulfill job expectations.

Salary and Benefits

$13,000 - $15,600 yearly (based upon experience & qualifications). Paid on a bi-monthly basis. Salary is subject to normal withholding.
