Wire Harness Assembler

SUMMARY

Prepares various type of wire for use in harness assemblies and creates Wire Harness for use in final assembly of product.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

• Ability to read and follow Wire Harness assembly instructions
• Ability to gather materials and tooling necessary to perform work in an organized manner
• Routes and ties wires to form Wire Harness used in electrical and electronic equipment or systems: Reads instructions, such as work orders, diagrams, and wire lists to determine materials needed and sequence of assembly.
• Numerous hand assembly operations based on detailed instructions
• Utilize electrical assembly hand tools.
• Conducts functional and continuity tests of Wire Harnesses and cable assemblies using test fixtures
• Use of a solder iron to solder wires to switches or connectors
• Perform visual and dimensional inspections of in-process assemblies and finished products
• Wire harness assembly experience highly preferred
• Wraps and ties wires together at designated points to form harness manually.
• Selects wires of specified color, marking, or length, and loops wires between guide pegs on harness board, following color-coded lines or sequential numbers on board or diagram.
• Maintain a clean, safe and healthy work area.
• Other duties may be assigned.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Has assembly/production experience and a strong mechanical aptitude
• Attention to detail, excellent hand dexterity
• Proficient in basic math skills
• Ability to read and interpret blue prints, engineering drawing and technical publications required.
• Familiarity with various pieces of ground support and test equipment desired.
• The ability to understand and follow instructions and the ability to concentrate is required.
• Excellent written, verbal, communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to get along with others or to be part of a team.
• Access to Export Control Information.
• Regular attendance at the worksite.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• This job requires a minimum of high school education or general education degree (GED) and 5 or more years work-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
