Join our REMARKABLE Inpatient Pediatric Surgery team who works together to perform complex surgical procedures to patients from all over the world!
We are seeking a highly motivated Surgical Techto:
- Work in our fast pace environment to prepare the operating room prior to surgery.
- Prepare for and perform complex surgical procedures.
- Anticipate the needs of and assist surgeons during surgery.
- Work with world renowned surgeons within our level 1 trauma center.
- Assist with inventory control.
Minimum Requirements:
- Facility Requirement:
- Traveler must have permanent address outside 50 mile radius of Madison (permanent address must be included in traveler's profile, listed in Medefis portal and all onboarding documents).
- Experience:
- Pediatric experience required. Strongly preferred experience in Eyes, Urology, Neuro and Ortho.
- Two (2) years of scrub experience as a Surgical Technologist.
- Traveler must have experience in an Academic Level 1 - Trauma center or similar size hospital.
- Prior traveler experience highly preferred.
- Licensure and Certification:
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.
- BLS must be certified through American Heart Association ONLY
- Education:
- Successfully completed a Surgical Technologist program or two years experience in Surgical Technologist role may be considered in lieu of completion of program.
- Reference
- Needs 2 completed references from recent work environment/assignments (supervisor or manager only for work performed in the last two years).
- Floating
- Travelers are the first to float to floors working with children up to 1 year of age and/or based on the traveler's competency skills/experience. The Traveler may have shifts scheduled in multiple units, depending on the current staffing needs and/or different locations within the organization. During the travelers assignment, if the primary unit no longer has a need, shifts will be re-assigned to another unit in order to complete contract.

Shifts:
40 hrs/week, Day/Evenings.
Monday - Friday, (5) 8hr shifts: 0700-1530, 1100-1930, or 1500-2330. One weeknight (Mon -Thurs) of call per week. One weekend (Fri - Sun) of call every 4 weeks. Possible holiday call if contract coincides with a holiday.

You will be taking a 20 strip exam to demonstrate that competency and must get an 80% on the test and correctly identify our 4 lethal rhythms (Asystole, V-Tach, V-fib, and 3rd Degree AV Block)
Attached-(Uploaded to our existing documents) is a study guide and practice test similar to what you will take on Monday.

****All agency travelers must demonstrate competency in interpretation of cardiac rhythms before your orientation begins. Previous completion of PALS, ACLS, etc. is not acceptable as a demonstration of this competency. Instead, you will be expected to satisfactorily complete a 20 question test which consists of multiple choice questions and write-in rhythm identification. You must pass with an overall score of 80% and correctly identify 100% of the 4 life-threatening rhythms for your patient population (adult or peds). If there are any questions, please refer to earlier communication from UWHC to your agency. ****
