Due to continued growth, we have an opportunity for an experienced engineering leader to join our firm as Wisconsin Regional Director. This position serves as the top official of the company within the region and actively works to build the company’s brand and reputation throughout the region. The selected candidate must have a strong background in project management, people management, and business development within the consulting engineering industry and be able to provide both strategic and tactical leadership to teams serving public sector clients throughout the state of Wisconsin.
Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for business operations, project performance and staff within the region.
- Serves on the Operations Committee and reports regional operating KPIs monthly.
- Monitors regional project performance and initiates corrective action when needed.
- Provides guidance and coaching to Area Managers and Team Leaders and leads/supports employee development activities for staff.
- Develops the annual chargeability and salary plan for the region.
- Develops an annual budget for capital expenditure and manages/negotiates office leases as needed.
- Identifies skill/experience gaps and assists with identifying and recruiting new employees in the region.
- Collaborates with the Business Development Director and Sales Manager(s) to ensure that appropriate sales and marketing activities occur for all disciplines within the region.
- Collaborates with the Business Development Director and Sales Manager(s) to create the annual regional sales and marketing plan.
- Ensures that appropriate Go/No Go process is followed prior to pursuing a project with new clients and/or technical areas.
- Reviews workload forecasts for the region, identifies gaps and collaborates with other Regional Directors to share work.
- Reviews and approves all non-standard contract language or terms/conditions that deviate from the company’s Professional Service Agreement.
- Monitors A/Rs, approves project windfalls and oversees the monthly invoicing process led by in-region Area Managers
- Maintains visibility within the region’s professional and political community through participation in appropriate organizations and events.
Position Requirements
- B.S. degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline and WI PE license are required.
- 15+ years of progressive experience managing teams and projects for a variety of public sector Civil Engineering projects is required.
- Ability to lead or assist business development efforts for multiple disciplines and project types throughout the region.
- Experience with the planning, design, and construction of engineering projects in the following areas are desired; local roads, water distribution, sanitary sewer, stormwater/drainage, water/wastewater facilities and mechanical/electrical.
- Deep experience with project management for public sector engineering projects including scope, schedule, fee development, QA/QC, and project control.
- Knowledgeable of the capabilities of engineering design and modeling tools including Excel, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Arc GIS, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HEC-GeoRAS, XP-SWMM.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to make public presentations, lead staff meetings, and change initiatives.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to travel throughout the region as needed.
