Job description

The Data Stewardship and Integrity Bureau is seeking a motivated, organized, multi-tasking, team player to join us.
Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager I (SSM I), the Welfare Fraud Prevention Coordinator (WFPC) within the Special Investigative Unit in the Research and Automation Data Division (RADD) is responsible for systematic approaches to FRAUD PREVENTION by proactively getting ahead of fraud before it happens. The WFPC will focus on finding large scale and organized fraud that is pervasive and the costliest to state and/or federal program by leveraging data analytics to detect, prevent and investigate WELFARE FRAUD and trafficking. Partner with Special Investigative Units and local enforcers on prevention and data discovery to drive our engagement with counties around integrity. Partner with counties and law enforcement on an updated vision to integrity which is focused on but not limited to skimming, scamming, and systematic fraud.

Working Conditions

This position is located in a high-rise building. Some travel with overnight stays required, approximately 9-10 times a year.
Telework available with in office attendance for business needs.

Special Requirements

This position requires background investigation, Federal fingerprint clearance/IRS PUB 1075.
The Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be submitted along with the Application/Standard Form (STD) 678 in CalCareers. The SOQ should be no more than two pages in length, typed, and must be clearly identified at the top of the page along with your name. Application packages received without specific responses to the supplemental questionnaire will not be considered.

Your SOQ must specifically address the following to be considered for this position:

1) Describe how your education and/or experience makes you the best candidate for the position.
You are required to complete employment history on the application form (STD 678). You may be disqualified from the recruitment process if the employment history is not complete. Resumes will not take the place of employment history.

Training and Development assignments may be considered based on the availability of eligible candidates and are subject to approval by the Hiring Authority prior to appointment. Training and Development assignments are considered limited term, 12 months, and may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.


Candidates who reside outside of the State of California may be admitted to the job interview, but they must provide proof of residence in California prior to being eligible for appointment.
All methods of appointment will be considered such as list appointment, transfer, reinstatement, surplus, SROA, general reemployment, training, and development, etc. However, possession of the minimum qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If it is determined an applicant does not meet the minimum qualifications, the applicant shall be notified and may be removed from the eligibility list. Employees applying for this position who wish to be considered on a transfer basis must meet the minimum qualifications and all transfer rules. You may be required to provide copies of your college transcripts or a copy of your college diploma if applicable.
